This is my first post for 2016!

2015 was a great year for me. I signed up to drive with Uber in June. The sign-up process was incredibly easy. After applying online, I uploaded the required documents, got my inspection the next day, and within 24 hours my application was fully approved. I started driving immediately.

What I like the most about driving with Uber is the flexibility. It allows me to work and make money on my own schedule. For the most part, I have a routine schedule. But when I need time off to take care of family matters, I don’t need to ask my manager for permission to take time off. I simply sign off from the app and go do what I need to do. I’m my own boss; I control my own schedule.

Flexibility also allows me to choose when to work. For instance, Uber surge pricing is triggered when there is an influx of ride demands. That usually happens at major events and gatherings. Last year, the Dreamforce event in San Francisco drew over 100,000 people in to the city over five days. It created a tremendous increase in rideshare requests. Similarly on New Year’s eve, there was so much demand, and over 4X surge pricing was reported in parts of the country. With a flexible schedule, I get to choose to work during these peak hours to maximize my income.

Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium will be the biggest event for the Bay Area in 2016. It will draw hundreds of thousands of people in town, and everyone will need transportation. This will be an incredible opportunity to make extra money quickly!
